You click on the little triangle in the window's lower, right-hand corner and drag it down and to right to make the window larger—that's its resizer. Adjust it to the size you want it. Or, just click on the green button (upper left) and it will resize to show the contents, subject to the screen size, dock location, and the upper menu bar. Then, close the window, double-click on the disk icon, and it should remember its last size and position. IIRC, that information is retained in the invisible .DS_Store file. If it doesn't work, then come back and I'll tell you how to delete it, so the next time you open the window, the system will rebuild a new one.
Sep 07, 2015 How to get a new Finder window in the size you want. Step 1: Open a model window by double-clicking the drive icon on your desktop, or click the Finder icon in the Dock to create a new window. Step 2: Set the new window the size you want. Don’t navigate to a different folder as resizing the window must be the first way you interact with it. You need to change the initial View Controller's View (NSView) size to whatever you want in the Size Inspector. You do not need to touch the Window Controller nor the Window. Important: Don't forget to delete Xcode's derived data; otherwise it will remember the previous value that was used the first time the app.
